What is an Air Amplifier?
The Streamtek Air Amplifier is a simple, low cost way to move smoke, air, light materials, and fumes. Using just a small amount of compressed air as their power source, Air Amplifiers pull in massive volumes of air from the surrounding environment to produce high velocity, high volume outlet flows. Quiet, efficient Streamtek Air Amplifiers will create output flows up to 25 times their consumption rate.
Which will best suit my needs?
The Adjustable Air Amplifier is available in both aluminum and stainless steel. They are both easy to mount and maintain, and they reduce compressed air consumption and noise levels. The Air Amplifier has an air gap that is adjustable which regulates the consumption and outlet flow from a “breeze” to a “blast”.

How it Works
(A) Compressed air flows through the NPTF inlet and into an annular chamber. It’s then directed through a small ring nozzle at an extremely high velocity.
(B) The airflow now enters the inside of the amplifier over a ‘Coanda’ profile, thereby creating a vacuum which entrains the surrounding air into the primary airstream.
(C) This combined flow of surrounding & primary air is then exhausted from the Air Amplifier in a high velocity, high volume flow.

Many of our clients found Streamtek Air Amplifier useful for different applications. Here are some of examples that our clients used them for
Blowing Water Off Parts
Application: Blow Off
This customer had multiple components coming out of a rinsing system before the final protective gloss finishing line. He needed to ensure that there would be virtually no spots on the product(s) surface before the final gloss was applied. Since his parts varied in height, length, diameter, etc., the total opening needed to be slightly larger than that of the largest part passing through. With an opening of 56″ wide x 40″ tall, we recommended six (6) Model SAM002A (2″ Adjustable Aluminum Air Amplifiers) be installed.
Fume Evacuation
Application: Vacuum
Noxious fumes are created in manufacturing when released from the furnishings, building finishes and energy production. The Model SAM004 (4″ Adjustable Aluminum Air Amplifier), powered entirely by compressed air and with no moving parts, was able to quickly and safely perform the evacuation of fumes. Installation was also very easy!
Dust Evacuation
Application: Vacuum
A company in India manufactures various products from metal pipes. After the pipes have had their final finishing coat applied, approximately 3″ of area near the middle of each pipe needed to have its bare metal exposed before a subsequent operation was to be completed. The clients used a rotary tool /w heavy-grit sandpaper to perform the job. The dust being created from the operation caused health concerns for nearby workers. The Model SAM002A (2″ Aluminum Air Amplifier) was installed close to where the rotary tool was working and easily vacuumed away the debris/dust before it had a chance to go airborne.
Magician uses Air Amplifier
Application: Cooling
Our customer Roy, an up and coming magician in the Cincinnati area needed a way to evacuate smoke from his 4′ x 4′ x 3′ enclosure. On cue, our Model SAM114A (1-1/4″ Aluminum Air Amplifier) was activated and the smoke was completely vacuumed from the chamber in under 5 seconds! It’s instant on-off operation allowed the air amplifier to achieve its 100% operating potential within milliseconds from flicking the switch.
Air Amplifier Blows in Product Coding
Application: Blow off
A toy manufacturer in Malaysia assembled lightweight plastic dump trucks, cars, bulldozers, etc., for children. To meet strict health and safety regulations, the various parts needed to go through a washing system before final assembly. A product code must then be applied to the underside of each toy. If the toy was still wet, the code was applied and instantly smudged making the code unreadable. After speaking with our Application Engineer(s), the toy manufacturer decided on a Model SAM001A (1″ Adjustable Aluminum Air Amplifier). Previously, the client used a series of standard nozzles which consumed excessive amounts of compressed air and never completed the job to the customers liking.
Venting Odors
Application: Venting
A Canadian company manufactures industrial strength rope. Before the final spooling stage, they have to melt each end of the rope to stop it from unraveling and fraying. During this process, an extremely foul odor is produced, which tends to linger around the workspace for quite some time. Since the melting of the rope at each end is quick and small, a Model SAM001A could provide just over 130 SCFM (3,679 SLPM) of airflow, which was more than enough to vent the foul odors away!
Press Fit Cylindrical Parts
Application: Cooling
The force required to assemble press-fit cylindrical parts directly depends on the clearance or allowance between the parts for fit, area of the positioned, and the fitted surfaces. Our customers who manufacture wheel bearings applied heat to the outer ring of the bearing houses and then dropped in the sealed bearing components. On average, it took approximately 30 minutes for the outer ring to cool down, thus creating a press fit. By installing our Model SAM114A 1-1/4″ Aluminum Adjustable Air Amplifier, the client was able to reduce cooling time down to under 10 minutes.
Blowing Snow effect to a Theatre production
Application: Blow
By using Model SAM004A 4″ Adjustable Air Amplifier, a traveling theatre production was able to create a snow blowing effect on stage. It was used to enhance the experience for the audience by providing a more realistic blizzard effect.
Cooling Hot Spots in Refinery Ducting
Application: Cooling
One of our customers had a refinery where heat insulation had fallen away from a duct system and needed to be repaired ASAP. To prevent costly downtime, a 3″ Model SAM003S Stainless Steel Air Amplifier easily cooled hot spots on the duct where insulation had worn away. Since space was also at a minimum, the Streamtek Air Amplifier was a natural fit.
Cooling Ingots Travelling on a Conveyor
Application: Cooling
World class ingot manufacturer makes bronze, brass, and steel ingots under the most stringent conditions. (2) Model SAM002A Adjustable Aluminum Air Amplifiers were placed over-top the ingots traveling on a conveyor to reduce cooling time by 30%. A pressure regulator was installed in-line for quick and easy control of both airflow and force.
Inducing fresh air into Tank
Application: Vacuum
Another one of our customers repaired holding tanks that contained hydrogen sulfide, a colorless gas with an odor similar to rotten eggs. Excessive exposure in confined spaces to this “sewer gas” has been linked to multiple deaths across the United States. Our customer used Model SAM004A Adjustable Air Amplifier in order to emit 1500 cubic feet per minutes of fresh ambient air into the tank, enabling personnel to safely perform required work.
Cooling a Weld on Differential
Application: Cooling
An automotive manufacturing facility based in Korea used a Streamtek Model SAM212A 2-1/2″ Adjustable Air Amplifier to cool multiple welds on their differentials. The clients were able to cool the welds from ~490°F (254°C) to 275°F (135°C) in less than 50 seconds! The clients implemented smaller versions of our air amplifiers into other areas of their production line.

Air Amplifier FAQs
No. The Adjustable Air Amplifier only amplifies volume, not pressure. The outlet pressures are well below 1 PSIG. The Air Amplifiers takes energy from a small volume of compressed air to produce its high velocity, high volume, low pressure output airflow.
A rigid air pipe is the optimal way to mount the Air Amplifier. The rigid air pipe will easily hold up to the very large air flow created.
No. The Air Amplifier would restrict the air flow of the Vortex Tube to the point where back-pressure would limit the cooling capacity of the Vortex Tube. The cold end of the Vortex Tube should not be subjected to a backpressure in excess of 5 PSIG.
We recommend a maximum of 15′ of ducting on the exhaust side of the Air Amplifier and a maximum of 5′ of duct on the intake side of the Air Amplifier.
