Why Coalescing Filtration is Mandatory
Standard filters use “mechanical straining,” which works like a screen. Streamtek™ Coalescing filters use a process where tiny oil droplets collide with fibers and “coalesce” into larger drops that fall into the bowl.
-
Surface Integrity: Essential for painting, coating, and printing applications where a single drop of oil causes “fish-eyes” or adhesion failure.
-
Component Longevity: Prevents the “gumming up” of internal generators in Streamtek™ Vortex Tubes.
-
Health and Safety: Reduces oil mist discharge into the ambient factory air.
The “Step-Down” Rule (Important)
To maximize the life of your Streamtek™ Oil Removal Filter, it must be installed downstream of a Streamtek™ 5-Micron Particulate Filter.
-
Stage 1: 5-Micron Filter (Removes bulk water and dirt).
-
Stage 2: 0.03-Micron Coalescing Filter (Removes oil aerosols and fine mist).
Failure to use a pre-filter will cause the expensive coalescing element to clog prematurely with large particles.
Installation & Service
-
Indicator Monitoring: Each Streamtek™ Oil Filter features a differential pressure gauge. When the needle moves into the RED zone, it is time to change the element.
-
Drain Management: Because these filters trap oil, the liquid in the bowl is an oil-water emulsion. Ensure it is disposed of according to local environmental regulations.
-
Port Sizes: Available in 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, and 3/4″ NPT to match your existing Streamtek™ plumbing.
